Ruth Hope, Director of the Center for Reproductive Health, HIVAIDS and Gender Equality
As the Director of MIDGEO's Center for Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and Gender Equality, Ruth has used her considerable experience in managing, building capacity, and design and management of health and development projects to work in designing MIDEGO's 7-Day HIV/AIDS Program Manager Online Coaching Program. Prior to joining MIDEGO, Dr. Hope also served as senior technical specialist with the Synergy Project, which designed, evaluated, and coordinated HIV/AIDS programs in various countries. She has recently conducted the impact evaluation of the USAID-funded HIV/AIDS program in Ethiopia. Her recent accomplishments include establishing and managing the PMTCT e-Forum, leading the HIV/AIDS strategic planning process for USAID/Guyana and for USAID/Jamaica, and leading the participatory program review of the Uganda Antiretroviral Therapy Program. She has also designed and managed projects for both DFID and the European Commission. She speaks Nepali and has worked in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
Dr Hope's vision for enhanced capacity, locally and at national level in countries around the globe fuels her passion to address critical public health issues in reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and gender equality. Her work empowers individuals, families, communities, health services and governments to develop their potential for meeting their own reproductive health and development needs. Dr. Hope facilitates a supportive environment for enhanced reproductive health and development capacity through system strengthening, training, coaching and mentoring, using innovative and cost effective approaches with partners in the field and electronically. Through her work with MIDEGO, she emphasizes the crucial importance of meeting the public health needs of the poorest and most vulnerable, and delivers approaches that empower and build local capacity that are essential for sustainability.
